Reduction in employee turnover

Employee turnover and willingness to quit in the team of a multinational company’s branch office in Hungary have increased dramatically. Our team’s task was to uncover the causes and reduce the turnover rate. We discovered that the main cause of the problem were inadequate recruitment and selection processes and unproductive communication. As result, unsuitable candidates applied for inaccurately worded job advertisements. Thus, an employee whose strong point is not communication was put in a sales position. A colleague without affinity for accurate measurements, but excellent communication skills, was assigned to one of the technical positions. In the short term, we resolved this controversy, and in the long term, we transformed the requirements of the positions and the employer branding messages. The result was from 50% to 25%, i.e. a 25% decrease in turnover in half a year. Since then, the turnover rate at the company has been 15-20% which can be said to be normal.

“I see” experiences at a workshop

A youth organization approached us because it was looking for more effective cooperation between the sub-organizations. They also wanted to strengthen their marketing. We analyzed marketing and messages. We researched the target group. We organized a workshop where, among other things, we used the unequal resources training exercise. In this exercise, the participants are divided into small groups, and the groups have to solve the same task, but each receives a different tool. The question is whether they realize that sharing the tools they can achieve more. The exercise helped them realize that together they are stronger and can go further. In addition, it turned out that one member of the team was good at writing, another at photography, and a third at social media. They just needed to share their tools to have an excellent marketing.

m2 area

We created the concept of the first Hungarian university makerspace with an area of 3000 m2. The team included engineers and educational specialists as well. The concept includes the layout of the space in 4 different versions, the description of services and operations and the methodology of integrating market players. A book made of it is the first university makerspace concept in Hungary. It is being implemented.

A makerspace is a collaborative work space, in other words, a communal workshop inside a public or private facility e.g. school, university, library or company for making, learning, exploring and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools for prototyping projects.
